Before his resignation, chancellor of City College of San Francisco Don Griffin recommended closure of the CCSF Fort Mason Art Campus in the Marina, and the CCSF Board of Trustees will make a decision sometime in Marchregarding the recommendation.
Supporters say the closure of the thriving campus would be a mistake. Maintaining the campus has widespread support from the Fort Mason Center, businesses in the area, art students, and the art community. The campus houses approximately 30 percent of CCSF’s art department, as well as the Continuing Education and Older Adults Program.
