Once again, the Marina’s own Magic Theatre in Fort Mason is about to impact your world with another fine, new American play: The Happy Ones, by Julie Marie Myatt, whose Sex Habits of American Women transported Magic audiences in the 2003–04 season. Myatt is at it again, with the deeply human story of Walter Wells, a man who has everything, then suffers through tragic loss to come out on the other side a wiser, happier, transcendently changed man. His struggles will feel familiar and ruefully funny to those of you lucky and smart enough to see this terrific play. I recommend it to all who want a great evening in the theater. Directed by Jonathan Moscone, this is fine theater, right in your own neighborhood. Go get some Magic. You’ll be glad you did.
