This is just a sampling of recent crimes handled by the officers of Northern Station and Central Station.
AUTO BOOST
June 11, 1 p.m. Divisadero at Hayes Streets
A witness reported seeing a suspect break into a vehicle. Through the use of video surveillance footage from a nearby business, police officers were able to positively identify one of the subjects. Two days after the crime, officers searched an area that is known to be frequented by the suspect, and they located him on the 300 block of Haight Street. He was booked on felony auto burglary and conspiracy charges.
The suspect is out on bond.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY
June 14, 3:44 p.m. 1767 Union Street
How many times have you heard people who were victims of crime say, “Where are the police when you need them?” In this case, they were on patrol in the area of Union and Gough Streets when they witnessed a strong-arm robbery in progress. The victim was sitting on a sidewalk bench when an unknown suspect physically assaulted her. While they struggled, the suspected yelled at her, “Give me your [expletive] iPad!”
The officers quickly left their vehicle and placed the suspect in custody. The suspect was charged with felony threats and attempted robbery, and was sent to County Jail, where there is no shortage of law enforcement officials.
A MAN’S ALLEY IS HIS CASTLE
June 15, 4:13 p.m. Elwood at O’Farrell Streets
An officer approached a suspect who was the cause of a sit/lie violation complaint. The suspect jumped to his feet and began swinging a 54-inch metal chain. He claimed the alley he was sitting in was his own. The officer created distance between himself and the suspect to deescalate the situation, but the suspect kept advancing toward the officer in a threatening manner, so the officer deployed his OC spray. Additional police officers arrived and took the suspect into custody and rendered aid to him. The suspect was booked at County Jail.
FIGHT GAME
June 18, 1:30 p.m. 400 block of Powell Street
A suspect entered a store and stole some items. He was confronted by a store employee as he was exiting the store. He punched the employee in the face and then fled.
When officers approached the store, the employee was able to point out the suspect to the officers and they arrested the suspect.
BURGLARY ATTEMPT, ‘HOT PROWL’
June 18, 10:27 p.m. Unit block of Himmelmann Place
Victims heard noises coming from the metal gate of their building. One of them went to the door and saw the suspect put her hands through the mail slot.
The second victim yelled at the suspect to leave, which she did, fleeing the scene. Officers arrived and located and detained the suspect, who was positively identified by the victims. The suspect was arrested.

June 21, 5:37 a.m. Sacramento at Drumm Streets
The victim walked past the suspect, who was standing in front of a store. The suspect asked the victim for money, but she told him she did not
have any. The suspect followed her and yanked her wallet from her hands, removed money from the wallet and returned to the store he was standing in front of.
Police officers arrived and the victim identified the suspect, who was arrested.
BIKER ROUGH
June 24, 4:30 a.m. 500 block of Post Street
A suspect cut a chain link fence and entered a business. A witness from another business heard a noise and saw the suspect trying to steal bicycles.
The witness startled the suspect, who fled the scene.
BIKER TOUGH
June 24, 1:36 p.m. Taylor at Post Streets
The suspect on a bicycle approached a victim and stole the cell phone right from his hand. The victim chased the suspect, who eventually fell off his bicycle.
He continued to flee on foot. The victim tried to detain the suspect himself, but the suspect fought him off. With the help of two good Samaritans, the suspect was detained.
ROBBERY WITH KNIFE
June 25, 9:30 p.m. 2500 block of Taylor Street
A suspect entered a store and stole some merchandise. He was confronted by security at the door. He tried to push past security, but he was blocked. He then took out a knife and swung it at security. When the security person moved out of the way, the suspect fled the scene of
the crime.
AGGRAVATING ASSAULT
June 29, 9:15 a.m. Unit block of Walter U Lum Place
A victim was sleeping on a bench when the suspect struck him with a stick. The victim stood up and the suspect struck him in the face with the stick again. Police arrived and arrested the suspect for aggravated assault.
WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME
July 1, 2:24 p.m. 300 block of Vallejo Street
The victim was awakened by a noise. She looked out the window and saw the suspect trying to get into her front door. The suspect was startled and fled the scene. While officers were speaking with the victim, the suspect walked by and the victim pointed him out. He was arrested.
