Fireworks cancelled

The San Francisco fireworks on Pier 39 have been canceled this year, along with its concert. “Due to the City & County of San Francisco’s Health Order prohibiting large gatherings, the Fourth of July Fireworks show over the Bay (shot from a barge located off Pier 39) has been canceled,” according to Pier 39’s website. “Pier 39 has also canceled its band performance scheduled for the Fourth.” The organization did announce that the pier will be open for outdoor dining and shopping on the Fourth from 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

The cancelation shouldn’t surprise anyone; fireworks displays, parades, and concerts celebrating Independence Day have been canceled across the Bay Area. Some localities will be offering instead virtual, online fireworks. Fremont has replaced its annual parade with a “porch parade,” asking its residents to decorate their porches in red, white, and blue.
