Tracy Weaver, a master gardener volunteer with the Pasco County Cooperative Extension, which is part of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) shares her knowledge of the animal with Manion, debunking myths and misconceptions.
“They are misunderstood because of us. We have so little knowledge of them,” said Weaver. “Less than ½ of 1% (of bats) get rabies, and if they do, they crash and die, within days.”
