Establishing a grocery store on Union Street has long been a goal of local residents, and on Tuesday, Nov. 10, their hopes should be answered with the grand opening of Luke’s Local at Union and Fillmore Streets. Though earlier rumors had the new Luke’s being considered for 2033 Union Street, (“Luke’s confirms new Cow Hollow store,” News Briefs, March 2020), the new store is located at 2190 Union Street. It is larger than the original Luke’s in Cole Valley and is expected to have a bigger selection of offerings.
The new store’s building had once before been used as a grocery store. But the newly remodeled space will serve in-person customers as well as those who can’t or don’t want to go shopping in person.
