Nine organizations submitted proposals for the redevelopment of the Presidio’s Fort Winfield Scott. The 30-acre site will be transformed into what the Presidio Trust is calling a Campus for Change, with uses that address social and environmental challenges.
Proposed uses include a Campus for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Epicenter for Climate Solutions, the National Center for Work-Learning-Service and Leadership in Sustainability, and more.
“It is great to receive this level of interest,” said Jean Fraser, CEO of the Presidio Trust. “Given Fort Winfield Scott’s setting in the heart of a national park and its legacy of service, we’re looking for a proposal worthy of the place.”
Any qualified proposals need to include parties with the financial and management abilities to finance and supervise rehabilitation of 20 buildings (with an option to add two more buildings) and make infrastructure improvements. Details on the proposals are available at presidio.gov/fort-winfield-scott/proposals.
