There are two non-intuitive ideas that have transformed Bay Area life, and we’re grateful for it. The first was the idea, decades ago, to produce wine here. Don’t the French and Italians already do it, and do it better? Well, they do, but we improved on it.
The second idea is that San Franciscans need to be given a reason to enjoy fine wines and food. Certainly, that’s not literally true, but thank goodness there are events such as the Uncorked! Festival, which lets you do good while enjoying the products of more than 50 top wineries. A portion of the proceeds from Uncorked! will go to support the local nonprofit Save the Bay, a 51-year-old organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and advocating for the Bay. Save the Bay is devoted to making the Bay “cleaner and healthier for people and wildlife.” Consider that another idea for which we’re grateful.
